Have a Spot to Put Your Guests Items

Although you may not have to worry so much about heavy coats in Florida, chances are that the ladies at least will have bags with them, particularly if it’s a potluck meal. So, it’s a good idea to have designated spots to put their bags and anything else that they have with them so that they are out of the way.

You might want to designate a bedroom and bed for this spot, depending on the size of your apartment. The point is to get things out of the way so that you have more room for sitting and eating.

Borrow Card Tables

Now that you know where you are going to have your guests put their items, you have to figure out where to put the food. In a small spot, a few card tables that are put around the rooms are going to work well. Maybe you can borrow some from neighbors or you can have a couple of guests bring them with them when they come.

Even if they don’t match one another, this can be handled with some nice matching tablecloths.

Be Creative with Seating

When you are hosting a get together in your small apartment, it’s going to take creativity to find places for people to sit. Of course, if the weather is nice you can always take the party outside if the apartment complex has picnic tables. Otherwise, footrests can be seats and benches along with your kitchen chairs, couch and other places to sit.

Make the Meal Potluck

One of the best things that you can do when you are hosting a get together in a small apartment is to have everyone bring something. Maybe you make the meat, and you have people bring the sides, the appetizers, the dessert, etc. if you don’t have a lot of room then people are sure to be willing to help out.

Minimize Who You Invite

Even though you may want to invite all of your aunts, uncles, cousins, and neighbors, it’s not a good idea when you don’t have a lot of space. If it’s not possible to have it outside due to weather, then you have to make it more of a nuclear get together and maybe invite other people another time.

These are just five tips that you can use when you are hosting a holiday get together in a small apartment. Whether it’s Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s or another occasion, being organized and willing to improvise will help you with keeping your sanity and ensuring everyone has a good time.
